I could still keep my SmartBro/HomeBro Canopy till I fully
use the PLDT Ultera.
Just like everybody else the first thing that I did was to
run a speed test.
Now here's the catch, (10GB Recommended usage for optimum speed ) according to PLDT Ultera service you need to maintain 10GB of data per month to keep on getting the 3Mbps speed. So let's compute the daily cap that's 10,000mb / 30 days, you get 333 mb/day. Once you reach the daily cap of 333Mb which is equivalent to an estimate 1 hour of youtube video at 480p or an hour of movie compressed by yify, your speed may drop to 30%. So I let my kid watch his favorite videos(Pocoyo, Peppa Pig and Elmo's World) in Youtube till we reach the daily cap then I ran another speed test.
So my 3Mbps connection is now capped to 30% of it's original speed, my internet connection has dropped to 1.08Mbps download and 0.83Mbps upload which I think is sufficient for watching 240p Youtube video streams.
Another fine print is minimum speeds of 256 kbps at 85% reliability. This is what bothers me because as a subscriber of PLDT, SMART HomeBro uLTEra you can't have any privilege to complain about the speed since it is stated on the fine print. So I decided to test the connection further by letting my kid watch more videos in Youtube.
Congratulations!!! I got 256 kbps, a high speed internet way back year 2000.
For other PLDT Ultera plans like 1,599 (1,299 only if you upgrade from Smart Bro) you will get.
- Up to 5Mbps speed
- 15GB cap or 500MB / day, speed will be capped around 1.7Mbps
- Minimum speeds of 256 kbps at 85% reliability.
- Up to 10Mbps speed
- 30GB cap or 1GB / day, speed will be capped around 3Mbps
- Minimum speeds of 256 kbps at 85% reliability.
Avoid this modem with Model ID : WLTFSR-115GN ask your agent if you can get a modem with external antenna.

I have read in tipid pc that the cap gets reset at 4:00am the next day so the screenshot above confirms it. Since my cap has been reset I should be getting the same speed all day given that I won't be hitting the 333mb/day cap.
So before going to sleep I played a Pocoyo video playlist in Youtube which consists of 17 videos at 25 minutes each. Based on the screenshot above the test at 11:00AM shows that I have reached my daily cap.
As of this time 8/18/2014 at 11:00 AM I'm not yet capped so I'm getting a great speed. you can see that at 2:21 AM my cap has not yet been refreshed so this would be a good proof as well that the cap gets refreshed at 4:00 AM the next test was performed @ 8:14 AM and I was getting amazing results.
PING TESTS FROM DIFFERENT SERVER LOCATION AND GARENA
I downloaded Garena to check the ping from other players. The screenshot above is from Singapore room and the ping from other players are above 200 on the right side is a speed test for a server located in Malaysia.

I got 41ms with server from Makati City and on the left side you can see that my signal is 5 bars not bad because I have an indoor router/modem.
I can monitor if I'm capped by enabling the metered connection option in Windows 8 since it gives an estimated usage of your internet connection.
On the Home Bro Canopy I can monitor the status of capping from my Dlink-router which had a DD-WRT firmware. I can get as high as 4Gb utilization per day and not being capped for the day, but once I hit 30Gb the speed will go down to 256kbps.
Note: PLDT won't tell you how much the cap is for the PLDT Home Bro Canopy because they are marketing it as "UNLIMITED" it looks though that the cap is 30Gb monthly.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
If you want to change the SSID of the wireless network and its password, accessing the PLDT Ultera Settings is easy just follow the steps below;
- Connect to your modem using wired or wireless connection.
- Once connected, open up a browser then type 192.168.15.1.
- On the log in page use:
- USERNAME: homebro
- PASSWORD: homebro
The recent trip to SM North Edsa PLDT customer service did not end out well because they can't process my request of cancelling the uLTEra also, going back to the Canopy is not an option as well because the Canopy has been fully terminated. Aside from that, PLDT customer service can't process my request of upgrading the connection to plan 1299 because the product is new and they are not yet trained for it. According to the PLDT customer service the system does not allow upgrading at this time. I guess I'm trapped in this situation for the next 24 months.
TIPS TO AVOID THIS SCENARIO:
- Don't believe the Field Sales Technician, they would tell you that you need to upgrade to Ultera because the
Canopy will be phased outPLDT sent out SMS blasts to subscribers that Canopy will be phased out by 2016. I was not at home that time when the Field Sales Technician offered the upgrade to my wife (she's the account holder). Being worried about the Canopy phase out she had no choice but to say yes. - Test and monitor your internet connection. If you are not satisfied immediately call *1888 and connect to customer service tell them that you want the Ultera cancelled and ask for a reference number. Don't believe the CSR rep if he/she will tell you that the Canopy will be retained because it will be deactivated within 5 days.
- Within 24 hours immediately go to the nearest PLDT Customer Service office to inform them that you want the Ultera cancelled provide the reference number from your phone call. Don't forget to bring the latest bill and ID. If you are not the account holder you need to create an authorization letter.
- Act immediately because once a request for a Canopy disconnection has been processed you might have a hard time to revert back and your next bill will have a prorated charges for the Ultera.
I tried to connect a SMARTBro LTE sim on my Ultera and it's working. I'll be creating a review about it and for a teaser, once you put in a SmarBro LTE Prepaid sim you will be redirected to the dashboard from there you can choose the Plan that you want like 50 pesos unlisurf, this might be an alternate solution.

Thanks for the input, I will check that by downloading a 2gb file which would take around 6 hours and post the results. The test was performed around 11:02PM and I think by this time the network should not be congested. I also get the same results (256kbps) on my PLDT Home Bro Canopy whenever I reach the 30gb monthly limit.
Deletesalamat sa review mo bro. now i understand how ultera capping works. take your case for example. you get 10 gigs a month. if you exceed the daily cap of of 333mb bagsak from 3mpbs to around 1mpbs. THEN if you exceed 10 gigs for that month bagsak AGAIN ang speed mo to .25 mpbs. hindi congestion yan. that's being double capped. racket yan ultera. hopefully pwede ka bumalik sa canopy. scam yang capping terms ng ultera.
ReplyDeleteSalamat din sa pagbasa sir. Yung double capping naranasan ko yan sa Canopy from 1.65 Mbps download pag na reach ko na yung 25Gb bababa yun sa 1Mbps tapos pag nag 30Gb na 256kbps na. Wala lang akong screenshot nun kasi ok naman ako sa setup na yun dahil kadalasan 5 days before the month ends tsaka ko sya nararanasan so tiis lang for 5 days. Since na monitor ko naman ang usage ko tingnan ko kung babagsak sa 256kbps pag na reach ko 10GB cap ng uLTEra.

ReplyDeleteNapa search ako bigla sa wikipedia about congestion and capping kasi 2 na kayo nagsabi about congestion. So kapag congestion lahat ng nasa netowk affected ng pagbagal tama ba? At kapag capping specific users lang ang affected ng pagbagal. Based din dun sa article ng wikipedia yung comcast meron ding 2 types ng cap "The scheme includes a two-class system of Priority-best-effort and best-effort". ReplyDeleteI hope the Garena screenshot above would give you an idea on latency in gaming, I'm thinking that the ping time would shoot up once the game has started since it would need to download additional resources from the server. Alos, if you have an Xbox you might have difficulties connecting the uLTEra to Xbox live.

ReplyDeleteang importante kase samin mga gamer ay yun issue sa "latency", it doesn't matter kung 256kbps lang ang connection, as long as stable un latency, it won't matter, i have been playing League of Legends for more than a year with latency of 56 using globe wimax, at 256kbps lang speed ng connection ko, but i can play fairly. so if you could provide how consistent the latency is, that would be a big help to us. depende kc un sa signal mo at sa Area mo.
I live in Sta. Maria Bulacan, mamaya pag uwi ko mag test ako latency using pingtest.net. Sa signal naman yung base station nasa loob din ng subdivision kaya laging 4-5 bars. Pag sa cellphone ako nag run ng speedtest ang ping mga 50ms+ pero pag sa PC 15ms ++ pag yung Canopy stable na 15ms. Ok na ba yung pingtest.net o may iba kang alam na test na pwede kong gawin for latency?

ReplyDeleteHi Erik, yes it's very easy to move as long as you were provided with an indoor modem /router, the only problem that you might encounter is that the LTE network that is only available to specific locations. I suggest to check with PLDT if uLTEra is available in Makati and Angeles City.
DeleteErik I checked PLDT's website and Ultera is not available in Makati though it's utilizing an LTE network it uses a different LTE band compared to mobile networks (Smart and Globe).

You can't adjust the uplink burst speed and base station color code of ultera unlike the canopy. This might be possible if someone knows the admin username and password of ultera.
DeleteI would rather suggest ung GLOBE with wired or wireless landline na 1,599 with 5mbps speed and 10gig capped per/day and wala masyado user sa globe kaya wala masyado network traffic, unlike sa ULTERA na 1,599 5mbps nga but still minsan nag ddrop ung Download speed nyan gawa ng madaming user and dahil sa madaming user pag peak time bumabagal ang signal :) and because of that dun nila binabawi yun sa tinatawag nilang capping na 1gig per/day lang ang limit gawa ng madaming user dun sila nangongotong :) kaya san ka pa edi dun ka na sa much better and in fact ok lang sa Online Games while streaming ang Globe kasi wala masyado kaagaw gawa ng onting user ^_^ and much better sa computer shop like mine ^_^

Wala ako sa bahay nung na setup yung Ultera yung wife ko ang nag accept kasi sya yung acount holder. Syempre di ko naman sususbukan alamin ng walang laban kaya kinalikot ko ng konti. Naalala ko kasi sa Globe WHYmax(pang-asar lang mabagal kasi dito) namin pag right click mo sa login page tapos view source makikita mo yung admin username at password (BM622 modem). hi, just got my Ultera plan 999 last sat. (sept 20), and so far. if you're going to ask me, it's quite good.
ReplyDeleteknowing my plan was only 999, it would be acceptable if i wont reach 1.5-3mbps of DL speed from speedtest at my 2nd day, since my brother is a torrent monster, i am pretty sure my plan was already capped on sunday.
what's surprising is, even though capped na yun plan ko, my "latency" for speedtest was 25-35ms. and for a gamer, that is something you would be more than happy to have, knowing this type of connection is wireless, usually sa globe DSL (Wired) ang latency ay 25-35ms din, which makes me conclude that ther'll be no difference in terms of gaming connection. i even checked SD Gundam Sea (Singapore based) and it gives me a good response in terms of latency. More than enough if you would ask me if gamer should have this connection.. but....
the only problem i encounter was, connection spike. may time kasi na bigla nalang nag ddown ung Download rate mo ng .10mbps which is questionable... im pretty sure i got a good amount of signal dahil less than 1km lang ako sa tower nila.. i hope they'll fix this as soon as possible. so far so good. i'll rate is 7/10, since the speed is comparable to DSL wired connection. (Y)
Na stress na din kami mag test ng mag test. Tsaka nasa terms of condtions ng PLDT na di nila kasalanan kung bumagal at may disconnection ang internet.

Pakiramdam ko kase mas malawak yung reach ng wifi signal kung yung TPLINK (na may antena) ang coconekan ko maski siguro sa labas ng bahay aabot ang wifi signal. Kung tama ako, pano ko po gagawin ito? ReplyDeleteYes kailangan mo mag login check mo sa wifi settings o kaya palitan mo na lang ng SSID yung Homebro_7834## ng ibang name like bulok(LOL). Pauwi pa lang kasi ako kaya di ko ma check yung settings pero once na ko update ko yung reply ko. In case na di ka maka login check mo na lang sa article yung username and password.

DeleteGood evening sir, thank you for this great review, especialy dun sa UN and Pass ng ultera, but my concern po ako, We upgrade our canopy sa Ultera plan 1699 30GB, nung October 18, 2014 ito ininstall then 5 bars pa yung Signal Strength nito, then nung Monday October 20, 2014 naging 2 bars na lang. I'm quite confident naman sa location namin, kasi malapit lang kami sa tower mga approximately 900 meters - 1km lang said nung technician na nang install sa amin nung October 18. I'm wondering kung a reach ko na ba yung monthly cap na 30GB, kaya from 5 bars naging 2 bars na lang. I hope matulungan nyu ako sa concern ko. Thank you and God bless :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sir, Since yung ultera po ay gumagamit ng cellphone signal normal lang po na paiba iba ang signal level. Malalaman mo lang pag naka cap ka na based sa speed test usually dapat nasa 3Mbps ang speed mo. Yung plan 1,699 meron din sya daily cap na 1gb so pag umabot na dun ang usage ang speed mo is 3Mbps at di dapat maapektuhan signal strength. Suggest ko sir login ka sa portal ng router at check mo yung SINR kung 15db pababa at Internal naman ang modem lipat nyo na lang ng pwesto yung modem/router. So change ko na lang ng direction yung antena, BTW naka outdoor antena kami, then as of now October 23, 2014 2:46am ang SINR ko is 1dB so it means na kailangan na ichange ng direction. Good eve! We are planned to migrate to Ultera plan 999 since our contract in canopy had ended last august and we are getting an average speed of 250 ms, 0.25 mbps download speed, 0.20 mbps upload speed. No choice kame dahil walang line ang pldt dsl dito and even ang Bayantel. Sir what would you suggest to us para sa ultera plan 999? Anong router ang maganda? Or anong masusuggest nio pang plan ng internet samen? Thanks ☺
ReplyDeleteUltera modem has built in router na so di na kailangan kung gusto mo gamitin yung lumang router pwede din naman. Kung meron kng neighbors na naka Ultera na ask them about the performance. In case na tuloy yung upgrade nyo ask for an external router.
DeleteHi i'm from Marilao Bulacan Share ko lang po kasi SmartCannopy subscriber ako ngayun. Napansin ko kasi itong cannopy super bagal sa umaga as in super madalas pa Request time out. Ngayun nabasa ko yung PLDT ULTERA na amaze ako kasi ganda ng info 21Xfaster than cannopy so nag madali akong mag subscribe sa site ng pldt. kaso ngayun nag babasa ako ng mga forum tungkol sa ultera mukang di rin mganda itong ultera kasi ang daming pag tatakip ang ginagawa ng PLDT sinong di ma aamaze 21X faster. BTW maganda ang ping ng cannopy sa lugar namen between 1:30am-9am. the rest 200-1500ms na request time out pa. Note kahit saan color code ganun ang ping at mtataas ang jitter.

ReplyDeleteSir, i am have been using Smart Bro canopy since 2010, and recently i received a call from a PLDT sales rep in Manila informing me that the Smart Bro canopy is being phased out and asked me if i wanted to upgrade to Ultera. I agreed, and the sales rep said someone would call me to set up an instillation date. Today, i read in your article that the Smart Bro canopy will not be phased out until 2016...is that true? if so, i will go to the nearest PLDT office to inform them i want to keep using what i have. Smart Bro canopy is not great, but it works most of the time. Also, sometimes in life when someone says there is something that works better than what we have....it does not.
ReplyDeleteUsually they offer the upgrade to subscribers who are out of the 2 year lock-in period. Yes you can go to PLDT office and tell them that you still want to use your Canopy but then again there would come a time that it will be phased out. The installer that went to our house said that "since they were able to sell the canopy in our area earlier this year they would have to ensure that those subscribers have to finish the 2 year contract for canopy before the total phase out."

ReplyDeleteMedyo mahabang discussion to sir kasi kailangan ko malaman lahat ng details. First ano yung IP address ng tatlong pc na ayaw mag connect? Second paano yung setup mo ng connection wired ba o wireless. Iniisip ko kung 10 ang pc mo at internet cafe yan meron ka sarili router na nakakabit sa modem/router ng ultera kasi 2 lang ang LAN Port ng modem/router ng ultera. Suggest ko sir try mo kabit directly yung 2 pc na ayaw maka connect sa internet sa ultera modem/router para ma isolate mo kung saan ang issue. Maaring cabling o may sirang mga ports yung router mo, try mo na din lipat yung gumagang internet sa di gumagana para ma test kung port ng router/cabling ang issue. Brand ng router na gamit at ilang ports 8/12/16/24?

ReplyDeleteWeird yung IP, kasi kung sa router ng ultera galing yung IP dapat 192.168.15.x unless may binago ka sa settings ng router. Base sa observation mo sir mukhang napatunayan mo na parang pocket wifi lang ang ultera kasi limited ang number of devices na pwedeng mag connect. Ito rin ang mga tanong ng ibang users sa tipidPC . Yes reboot mo lang wala na dapat I type at mag kaka internet na ulit yan. Solution sa problem mo is to get a router so lalabas LAN ng ultera to WAN port ng router, port 1 ng router to port 1 ng switch/hub. Pero baga ka bumili ng router at kung gusto mo makatipid yung isa mong PC lagyan mo ng extra LAN card so dapat 2 na ang lan card kabit mo yung Ultera mo sa PC na may dalawang LAN Card tapos yung isang port ng lan card kabit mo sa switch hub so ang lalabas Ultera to LAN1 ng PC, LAN2 ng PC to D-link then enable mo yung ICS sa computer na may dalawang LAN Card. Hello, just go to setting tapos wifi usually pag first time installation ang pangalan ng ng network is Homebro_ULTERA, yung password dapat ibigay sayo or check sa ilalaim ng modem/router andun dapat ang passwrord. DeleteMeron kasi daily cap na 1gb per day baka na reach mo na, kasi kahit di ka mag download pero pag nag browse ka sa Youtube counted pa rin sa daily cap. Sa plan mo normal yang 3mb after ng capping. Meron na din nagtanong na gumagamit ng Ultera sa compshop pero hanggang 7 lang na PC ang na detect. Malamang modus yan kasi bakit ayaw ka patawagin sa hotline.
so ok lng po na gamitin ito sa compshop? nag wworry kasi mother ko bka daw malimas ung mga pc namin pag nalaman na ultera ang gamit nmin sa shop kaya medyo nag aaway kami haha...
DeleteOk lang yan, yung internet shop nga dito sa amin Canopy lang gamit sa internet shop nya, mas mabilis yang nakuha mong plan maganda lang sana kung stable na 3mbps pataas makuha mo kasi yung iba kahit naka plan 10mbps na di pa din umaabot ng 3mbps ang speed. Just make sure na naka router kung more than 7 ang pc mo.

DeleteTanong lang po. May capping din naman ang smartbro canopy at nagmamabagal sya kpag nkadownload ka ng madamidaming movies, talaga bang mas maganda ang canopy sa ultera? Tama ba pagkakaintindi ko na pag canopy katamtamang bilis pero nde nagdadaily capping bagkus total usage ang basehan bago bumagal at ung ultera ay high speed internet pero limited daily ng 1gig? Kung ganun nga pangit mag ultera at sana tanggalin nila ang UN sa UNlimited internet nila kasi limited naman pala.
ReplyDeleteYes based on my experience stable ang canopy 1.7Mbps sa speedtest.net pero pag nag raeach ako ng 30gb FUP na ako nun speed is 256kbps na lang pag na FUP. Unlimited pa din naman pero sobrang bagal ng speed.

ReplyDelete@1:49PM ganun din sa akin parang burst speed nya tapos biglang pugak pugak na yung speed kaya yung speedtest website na ginamit ko sa comaprison ng internet between Ultera and Canopy ay iba. Try mo din yung speedtest sa website na to www.bandwidthplace.com. Pero mali pa din yung speed na nakukuha mo dahil dapat kung di po na reach ang daily cap madalas 3mpbs above ang makukuha mo.

Why offer LTE service if it's gonna be capped at 333MB/day? That is just 3-6 apps from google play or the appstore! And with that LTE download speed, in less than 5 minutes you'll surely reach the cap. Only dumb people will subscribe to this plan.

DeleteI have received an email from a subscriber na if you decline you will still be able to keep your Canopy and you will just have to sign a waiver stating that you don't want to upgrade. If you are still in Canopy keep on declining the upgrade.

sir maganda gabi. ask ko lang bakit ganun yung ngyari sa ultera plan 5mbps namin. kaninang tanghali lng kami nakabitan pero after 2hrs and 30mins throttled down na agad yung internet speed namin to 256kbps which is nkakalungkot. kasi hndi naman kami nag download ng big files. youtube music at online games lang. at ska tumawag ako sa customer service nila knina ang sabi na reach na daw yung daily cap. tama lang po ba na ma throttle down yung speed namin to 256kbps. inuulit ko po 2hrs and 30mins pa lang namin nagamit ung internet without heavy download whatsoever. online games and a bit of youtube lang.

Nasa contract kasi natin na Minimum speeds of 256 kbps at 85% reliability. So kung pag uusapan about contract allowed sila gawin yan kahit naka plan 10mbps ka pa. Kaya nga nakakaasar, lahat capped streaming and youtube videos basta naabot mo na ang cap babagal talaga yan mag refresh yan ng 4am. Kung may option ka na wired connection like DSL or cable yun na lang piliin mo kasi walang cap.

DeleteIf your connection is less than 3 days old and the subscriber system that PLDT is using shows that you are still on Canopy you might have the chance to decline that upgrade. Good luck with your PLDT Trip tomorrow I'm hoping that it won't destroy your precious day.

Based on my experience Di naman sya constant na 0.25Kbps pag na reach mo yung 10GB per month kasi nag average ako ng 15GB per month e. Magiging 0.9 Mbps ang speed pero madalas na babagal at on the next month babalik ulit sa 3mbps tuwing 4am till you reach your cap for the day.

Deletei just upgraded mine 2 days ago..after the technician showed me the speedtest he did..it was pretty amazing..but then,after they left and past few hours, the speed connection was so bullshit!i couldn't do anything with that connection speed..i can't stream any videos,or even update the game i wanted to play..and even at midnight.still the connection speed is still fcking annoying..so i called *1888..i realized that i should not have never convince myself to upgrade my canopy for this lame ultera..the costumer service told me there is a limit for the max speed after that,it will slow down my internet connection,and it will reset 4:00am..that was freaking hilarious.i never had experienced it on my previous canopy..and now.my connection is totally ruined..

ReplyDeleteI also spoke to the Customer service to know details about Ultera before requesting to migrate my account and the person provided the same details like you did that it has cap and will be refresh at 4am (ofcourse it can't be detailed like yours) and looking at your screenshots it seems like it is not good for me to migrate immediately since I do streaming all day during my rest day and after work. I guess i'll just have to wait for my subscription to end until November this year. :(
Do you happen to have any idea as to which plan should I get from PLDT or SMART instead of getting this crappy ultera?
If you have the chance to get a wired connection (DSL, Cable, FIBR) go for it, just don't upgrade to Ultera because there are still a lot of Canopy users out there, one of the comments that I have read is that he signed a waiver that he is declining the upgrade. Hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteI just received a call today, 13 March 2015, fm the PLDT team informing me of the migration of my HOMEBRO WIMAX to ULTERA. Since the service and signal/speed of this HOMEBRO is suuuper bagal and very unreliable, I tried to cancel my subscription very early on. Yung nga lang, I have to pay daw the rest of my subscription period. Eh di pagtiyagaan na lang plus use the mobile data and the internet dongle para lang makapag internet. I was informed that the ULTERA will have a lock-in period of three years. Na highblood ako. Susubukan ko sana if the contract will just assume my present connection. I told them not to give me another palpak connection and not to touch the present connection maski palpak because I don't want to deal with another irritant. Mabuti na lang I denied kasi mas naliwanagan ako sa mga "small letter provisions" in the contract thru the very informative thread in your review. Thank you very much!!!

Inalis na ba nila yung canopy mo kasi kung naalis na malamang malabo na. Puntahan mo na kaagad sa PLDT para maihabol mo pa. Dagdag pa sa mga sinabi ko sa taas, technical naman daw ang issue kaya di na pwede ihabol. Good Luck.

DeleteGood afternoon. nilipat ko po ung Ultera (outdoor antenna) sa hometown ko from City, by myself. Gumagana naman sya at mabilis. Pero tumawag ako sa Hotline kung pwedeng ako nalang ang maglipat, PLDT technician daw dapat at may 1,450 relocation fee. Pano yan, nailipat ko na ng libre, may kaso ba yon, may law liability?
ReplyDeleteYung bayad kasi about relocation fee sa tingin ko sa Smart Bro canopy lang yan kasi kailangan talaga ma configure ang MAC Address ng Canopy modem sa base station. Pero since ang Ultera may SIM at parang cellphone lang so technically kahit saang may signal ang SMART na LTE gagana ang Ultera. Nasubukan ko na dalhin sa byahe ang modem from Bulacan to Subic and along the way may Internet naman ako. Sana di mo na lang tinawag pero wala namang law liability yan at kung singilin ka man try mo na lang pa reverse yung charges sa bill. Chill ka lang pag siningil ka tsaka ka tumawag ulit kung wala just go with the flow.

Hi Earl, Medyo busy sa work kaya di ko pa nalagay pero yung SMart LTE sim na gagamitin mo yung Smart BRO LTE yun yung gumana lagay mo lang tapos register ka sa dashboard ng unli 50 ganon kasi ginawa namin, yung isang SIM na Smart Jump IN na LTE ayaw gumana.

ReplyDelete@ mj and 8:15PM nag try ako mag download ng Ultrasurf (google nyo na lang), parang VPN service pero libre technically ang gagawin nya is itatago nung software yung internet activity mo, at pag nag speed test ka makikita mo iba na ang IP mo at location mo is U.S. pero parang na capped pa din. Kung may nakakaalam ng Main Admin username at password malamang pwede.

Delete1. Yung default username and password ng PLDT Router pwede lang
mapalitan kung may maka login using Admin account.
2. Yung Captcha normal yun, karamihan sa Ultera users yan din ang reklamo
kahit ako nakukuha ko din yan. Para yan sa protection ng website na inaacess mo
kasi masyado madami ang nag access from a single IP (PLDT) kaya may captcha
sinisugurado lang na hindi hackers ang nag access ng website.
3. Yung sa router na accessible sa internet ang pwede lang maka access nyan ay yung
may alam ng Admin username and password sa tingin ko PLDT lang ang mag access nyan
for remote troubleshooting. Try mo na lang on yung Firewall ng router.

hi mike! sana hindi pa huli ang reply ko. pede mo gamitin to http://www.projecthoneypot.org/white_list.php yung pinaka ip na nklgay sa captcha ng cloudflare(kung ito nalabas sayo) iregister mo lang pero temporary lang yan pero effective ng ilang araw. ang ginawa ko sakin araw araw ko kinulit ang pldt tapos inaway ko kapag hindi nila maintindhan yan problema ko sa captcha. tapos sa pagkakaintindi ko inadjust nila yung ip ko kasi pinaglaban ko ip nila ang problema hindi ako. pero hindi parin nasolusyunan medyo lang ang ginagawa ko ngayon if ever lumalabas yan captcha nirereboot ko ng nirereboot sa portal ng ultera. for example ang ip mo na 192.168.15.107 may prob sa captcha ireboot mo makakakuha ka ng bago ip address(public ip) yan eh kung nakadynamic ip ka, gamitin mo ang google para makita mo agad ang ip mo type mo lang my ip, tapos refresh refresh mo lang yung webstie na affected ng captcha tapos pag ganun padin reboot again. hanggang mawala ang ip na may captcha.

CCF, Huawei B2268s ang ultera namin, tanong ko lang po kung pwedeng idirect ang connection ko sa ultera using POE adapter? kung sakaling pwede, gagana po ba ung mga threads tungkol sa mga hacks ng smartbro canopy tulad ng software reset sa ultera? DeleteButi na lang talaga hindi ako pumayag na palitan ang canopy to ultera. It's been months since they have been trying to convince me by saying that they will phase out the canopy. It's only now that I learned about capping, and in canopy, I had no such concerns, and we have like 6 gadgets in the house and all are always used, and there is no problem with speed and connection. Kaya lang, just lately, nawala ang signal namin, sabi ng technician ng PLDT, obstruction daw, and then I have to get connected thru ultera na daw. Hindi ako pumayag. I don't believe that they will phase out the canopy; they could be operating it at more expense. One of my issues is why do they have to provide a router when I already have one? Anyway, thanks for this info.
ReplyDeleteI just upgraded to ULTERA p1299 since I have a canopy with Smartbro...Myged, may time nga na mabilis sya pero mas marami pa yung times na mabagal at yung speed nya mabagal pa sa speed ng canopy ko na 1mb lang ( they failed to upgrade it to 2mb after the mass upgrade ng Smartbro Canopy ) kahit sa speedtest lumalabas eh 4mb download speed 2mb upload speed still kahit stream eh mabilis pa nung naka canopy ako...:( Hayy 3 years ang contract neto...I suggest mag PLDT DSL nalang kayo kesa ULTERA...EPIC FAIL talga! I bought mine for 3500 and so far I am satisfied with the speeds I am getting. I live in muntinlupa area and I am using a Smart Bro LTE sim which is registered to Unlisurf 250. So far so good. I got 3 bars of signal here and it is slightly raining when I tested my speeds.
UnliSurf 995 and LTE Data 995 will last for 1 month, paload ka lang sa tindahan at ok na ang internet mo. Di kagaya ng plan nila na 999 tapos 3 mbps lang ang speed at may cap. Naka-ilang torrent download na ko na nasa 1gb to 300mb (isang araw lang to ah) and I have to say satisfied ako kasi hindi mo na kailangan maghintay ng oras para lang matapos ang DL mo at wala pa kong nararanasan na bumagal ang speeds nya. Minimum na speed na naexperience ko so far is around 2-3 mpbs at dahil 1 bar signal lang yun at kakaumpisa ko pa lang gamitin, hindi pa yun bumaba dun.

ReplyDeleteuser po ako ng PLDT home ULTERA . so far so good pa naman umaabot ng 10- 27 mbps download rate at 1- 3.5 mpbs upload rate nya.. kaso talgang pag nag capping sakit sa ulo. khit isang video sa youtube na 2 minutes .. umaabot pa ng 10 minutes bago mo mapanood ng di nag bbuffing. gusto ko na mag shift ng ISP .. any suggestion nga po kung anu maganda. ginagamit ko po sa 3 destop 24/7 na nka bukas.. at mga nkikiwifi na kamag Anak.wtf. haha.. anung maganda ung budget ko 1- 1.5k a month for the internet connection. SALAMAT ng MARAMI! :)

DeleteGanito din gnawa ko, kso nung pumayag akong pasched dun ko lang nireview tong mga blog na to. Ending, tinawagan ako ng mga technician at nung sinabi kong wala ako sa bahay sabi nila mag forge na lang sila ng waiver upon my verbal confirmation na pumunta sila sa amin at dinecline ko yung installation. Kaso ang problema dahil pumayag ako over the phone (dala na rin ng ayaw kong maistorbo sa pangungulit ng reps nila) hindi ko na malalaman kung anong nakasaad dun sa waiver. Kaya pakiusap sa mga nakabasa at personal na nagsign nung waiver, paki explain naman po kung anong sinasabi doon. Maraming salamat po at more power.

Question is, yung pinaka mabilis lang nya na speed is 1mbps that is, pag tulog na lahat na tao dito sa bahay... and during the day it only averages to .36 mbps download speed kahit na skype lang ang gamit ko for an hour. would it be okay if i retain my smart bro canopy, and at the same time, get an ULTERRA connection as back up? Papayag kaya sila na dalawa connection ko. Plan ko kasi mag homebased tutor. Please reply po. I need your take on this. |Thanks.
ReplyDeleteDON'T. Ang gamit ko rin ngayon ay Canopy at namimilit yung PLDT na mag-upgrade na kami sa Ultera. Dahil alam ko yung feedback ng mga PLDT Ultera customer tumanggi ako. Ngayon bumalik sila at sinabing mawawalan na daw kami ng internet this February kung hindi pa rin kami maguupgrade sa Ultera. Meron ba dito na ganito din ang situation?

Hi, just like like crazy4money, may nagpuntang tech sa amin just before i leave home for work. sabi magupgrade na daw ako dahil anytime soon ay mawawalan na kami ng internet dahil totally ay aalisin na ng smart ung canopy. hindi ako pumayag at pumirma na lang ako ng waiver. I asked te teck kung kelan mapuputol pero kahi DAW sila ndi nila alam. basta mapuputol na lang without notifying the subscriber. feeling ko, by end of feb, wla ana tau internet, lol

ReplyDeletekung ako sayo huwag ka ng mag upgrade sa ultera... madaya sila. dati may 1gb akong daily allocation (a total of 30gb in a month) at after na maubos ang 1 gb babagal ang net ngayon nag upgrade sila tuloy tuloy na ang gamit at once na maubos mo na ang 30 gb stop na ang net mo.. makakagamit ka lang ulit kung bibili ka ng booster... di mo naman makokontrol ang usage ng net. di nila sinabi na may additional ng babayaran once na maubos na ang monthly allocation mo. had i know na ganun di na sana ako nagpa upgrade kasi madali maubos kapag tuloy tuloy ang gamit di katulad noon na once na maubos mo ang 1 gb babagal lang kinaumagahan meron na namang medyo mabilis bilis....

ReplyDeleteQuestion lang po may tumawag po saking agent from pldt at naka enrolled daw po yung account ko for migration nang smart bro canopy to ultera but i said to that agent wag muna since di ko pa alam yung uletra . So after doing some research and reading reviews about ultera i concluded that the main problem is the data capping so after a week tumawag po ulet yung pldt agent sakin if decided na daw po ba aku sa migration and then i asked him kung totoo yung data capping at sabe ko din dun mismo sa site nila meron limit yung data for plan 999 which is 50gb per month. Pero nagulat aku sa sinabe ni agent na if existing na yung account mo sa kanila yung data na mkukuwa mo sa ultera is same lang din nang nakukuwa mo nuon sa canopy mo it means unlimited na yung data mo.at yung nakita ko sa pldt site mismo nay may volume capping per month ay para lang daw yun sa mga new subsciber. Totoo po ba ito baka po kase sinasabe lang yun ni agent para mag migrate aku.

Hindi pa ba available ang dsl sa inyo? ganyan din ang ginawa sakin, kinulit kulit ako pero hindi tlaga ako pumayag kc dhil sa capping mainly becuase i work from home. just yesterday, nainstall na ung dsl ko, unlimited pa. migration din ang ginawa sakin, from canopy to dsl na, so i can say its totally a legit upgrade. speed na nakukuha ko is between 3-5 mbps. kung ako saiyo, wag ka papayag, hayaan mo lang dahil baka magsisisi ka.

ReplyDeleteMeron akong OT-350 Ultera pero yung outdoor unit nalang at cable.
Bumili ako ng TP-Link router sa pagbabakasaling gumana.
So ganito ang magiging installation ko:
Ultera Outdoor Unit (with Smart postpaid Lte Sim) --->> TP-Link router.
Gagana ba ang ganyang setup o kailangan ko pang mag lagay ng PoE Injector (12V) sa pagitan nila.
